150 YEARS OF THE OFFICIAL CROATIAN LANGUAGE
Vecernji list, October 23, 1997, p. 4.
A ceremonial session of the Croatian Parliament will be held today on the occasion of the
150th anniversary of the Croatian language. Croatia today celebrates the Croatian
Parliaments 1847 passed motion to announce the Croatian language as the official
language.
The President of the Croatian Parliament, Dr. Vlatko Pavletic, stated that
"
those years were the years of fighting for Croatias identity and rights
and today we have that right. The continuity of the parliaments activities indicates
that the Croatian name has never faded throughout history."
