| From: HIC News <hicnews@hic.hr> Subject: PRESS CUT - 17.01.2001 Date: Wed, 17 Jan 2001 15:53:34 -0800 PRESS CUT - Croatian Press News in English January 17, 2001 Croatian Philatelic Society Elects Officers, Directors FRITCH, Texas Robert Tomlinson of Durham, N.C., a retired architect and a stamp dealer, has been elected president of the Croatian Philatelic Society, an international philatelic and numismatic specialty organization covering Central Europe and the Balkans. Tomlinson, who was raised in New Jersey and studied architecture at Syracuse University, is a longtime CPS member, recruiting dozens of new members into the organization through his many contacts around the world. He worked in the architectural field in Washington, D.C. and Corpus Christi, Texas. Other officers elected are Matt Bilic, St. Louis, Mo., vice president; and Kenneth May, Reno, Tex., corresponding secretary. Eck Spahich, Fritch, Tex., and Beatrice Reid, Borger, Tex., will serve as executive director and treasurer, respectively. Elected as regional directors are Tomislav Mikulic, North Brighton, Victoria, Australia, Eastern Hemisphere; Dr. Martin Hrgovcic, Houston, Tex., Western Hemisphere; John Rumora, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Scott Reckmo, Minneapolis, Minn., Central United States; Fred Buza, Ocala, Fla., Eastern United States; and Prof. C. Michael McAdams, Sacramento, Calif., Western United States. Elected as directors-at-large are Francis X. R. Delzer, Hager Hill, Kentucky; Hemy Laessig, Westfield, N.J.; Brian Sikorski, Slacks Creek, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia; and Vladimir Novak, Zagreb, Croatia. CPS is a non-profit, educational organization, devoted to the study of, and to the exchange of information of Croatian, Slovenian, Bosnian, Central European and Balkan postal issues, postal history, and numismatics. Spahich founded the specialty group in the spring of 1972 in Borger, Tex. Its members' interests cover all of the stamps, post cards, coins, currency, maps, autographs and military decorations. The society publishes an award-winning journal, The Trumpeter, edited by Spahich, for its members scattered in 35 different countries.
