Croatian Exile Stamps Catalogue

Our valuable member and a longtime friend of the Croatian Philatelic Society, Mr. Dragutin Oparic, who recently returned for retirement in his native city of Varazdin, Croatia, has just published philatelic catalogue, "Kroatien - Hrvatska, Exil Ausgaben,1932-1992".

Our sincere congratulations are in order to Drago, as friends call him, for publishing this much-needed reference for Croatian exile stamps. This attractive, 104-page philatelic reference book makes philatelic history by being the first book published in newly-bom Croatian state that features Croatian exile issues. Stamp writers, publishers, etc. were forbidden during the occupation period of Croatia, 1945-1991, to even admit of exile issues, much less to possess them. Many collectors, out o€ fear, and in order to be politically correct, did not collect exile issues. Not surprisingly, when this writer visited Zagreb in 1998 for the first time in some 38 years, we discovered most collectors were unaware of these issues.

This catalogue, which lists all of the exile issues, is in German and Croatian languages, is easy to follow. This is a necessary reference item for every Croatia specialist! Mr. Oparic has personally invested money in publishing this catalogue. This specialized book is available directly to our members from the CPS at a cost of $22, postpaid. Orders should be sent to CPS, P.O. Box 696, Fritch, Texas 79036 in U.S. dollar funds. On the other hand, you may pay by e-mail if you have a PayPal account. Our E-mail address is: for any questions, or help to get a PayPal account.
